KINSTON, N.C. (May 14, 2014) -- Charlotte's Jim Pearson shot a 4-under 67 and will take a two-shot lead into the final round of action at the 2014 Carolinas Senior Amateur at Kinston Country Club.
Pearson paired his opening-round 70 with a cool and collected 67 on Wednesday to take a lead over Keith Waters (68-71), Jim Grainger (73-66) and Alan Dirk (71-68), who are all tied for second place.
Dave Davis is three shots back while Pat Thompson and six-time champion Paul Simson sit tied for sixth place.
Russ Perry, the defending champion, shot 71-72 over the first two days and is ninth.
Round one leader Steve Sharpe of Greensboro, NC shot a 78 to fall back into a tie for 10th place at 144.
The cut line fell at 154 with 68 players qualifying for the final round. Round 3 starting times are posted below.
