Will County (Ill.) Amateur: Mitchell prevails

CRETE, Ill. (May 4, 2014) -- After a windy Saturday, 77 players shooting 84 and under made the cut to Sunday play. Todd Mitchell of Bloomington, IL and Michael Fastert of Des Plaines, IL held the overnight lead at even par 72. Close behind was Dusty Drenth of Davenport, IA with a first round score of 73.
Sunday play experienced cooler temperatures and less wind but better overall scores. Todd Mitchell won with a final round 65 to shoot an overall score of seven under, 137. Second place alone went to Dusty Drenth with 146 and third to John Wright of Aurora, IL with a 147. The only other sub-par round of the weekend belonged to Andrew McCain of Minneapolis, MN who fired a second round 68.
This weekend was Todd Mitchell’s fourth Will County Amateur title. His previous wins came in 2006, 2007, and 2010.
