HONOLULU, Hawaii (Feb. 19, 2014) -- Cal opened with a 10-under 278 to take the first-round lead at the John Burns Intercollegiate at Wailua Golf Course in Lihue, Hawaii.
The second-ranked Bears are seven shots clear of second-place Arizona, which boasts the current individual leader, Erik Oja, who shot 8-under 64.
Oja is three shots ahead of second-place Joel Stalter of Cal. Stalter is the defending medalist at this event while Cal is searching for a fourth win in a row at the John Burns.
No. 7 Texas A&M is third at 2 under.
