The defending champion will head into the final round with a five-stroke lead, three shots better than her 2013 36-hole lead.

REUNION, Fla.— Bethany Wu of Diamond Bar, Calif., matched her opening 68 with another 4-under- par round, bringing her two-day total to 8-under-par 136. The defending champion will head into the final round with a five-stroke lead, three shots better than her 2013 36-hole lead.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the ANNIKA Invitational is a 54-hole stroke play competition featuring 72 girls, ages 14-18, from 15 foreign countries, 17 states and Puerto Rico. The par-72 Watson Course at Reunion Resort is playing 6,347 yards.

Wu, who went bogey-free through 32 holes, continued her strong putting, carding five birdies on the day. She was 3- under-par when she made the turn.

“I want to play like it’s just another round,” Wu said. I got a little nervous, but I just wanted to trust myself and keep calm.”

Two of her birdies – Nos. 2 and 17 – dropped after she stuck her approach to four feet. The UCLA verbal commit heads into the final round with a five-shot lead. A second win would make Wu the first repeat winner of the ANNIKA Invitational.

“My goal for tomorrow is 4-under,” Wu said. “My goal for my junior career was to win one Invitational so to win two would be great.”

Japan’s Yuting Shi of Beijing, China, fired a 3- under-par 69 for a two-day total of 3-under-par 141. This marks the first AJGA appearance for Shi.

“The point of this week is to learn as much as I can from Annika and from the event,” Shi said. “I want to see how my game matches up with the top junior golfers in the world.”

In third is Ziyi Wang of Beijing, China, at 1- under-par 143.
