Webb Simpson of Raleigh birdies the final hole to beat Trip Kuehne of Dallas and Seung-Su Han of Nevada by one at the 53rd Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament for Champions

JOHNSTOWN, PA (June 11, 2006)--At the 53rd Sunnehanna Amateur, Webb Simpson of Raleigh, NC, a junior at Wake Forest University, shot a closing 3-under-par 67 making a clutch birdie putt on the 18th hole to secure the lead and title at 4-under-par 276 over Seung-Su-Han of Henderson, NV, who shot a final round 66, and Tripp Kuehne, the third round leader who finished with a 73, both finishing tied for second place 3-under-par 277. Chris Kirk of Woodstock, GA, birdied the final hole to take fourth place at 2-under 278. Jason Day of Australia and Jarred Texter of Millersville, PA, both finished 1-under-par 279 to tie for fifth.

The Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament for Champions was started in 1954, and annually attracts one of the best fields in amateur golf. Using a format to invite players much like The Masters, invitations are essentially limited to those who have won major amateur tournaments or state-sanctioned championships.
