Sloane, Banke share San Mateo County lead

Christian Banke and defending champion Ryan Sloane both fired rounds of 66 on Saturday to share the San Mateo County lead
SAN MATEO, Calif. (Dec. 14, 2013) — On a day where low numbers weren't scarce, Christian Banke and defending champion Ryan Sloane shot pairs of 66s at Poplar Creek Golf Club to share the first-round lead at the San Mateo County Amateur.
Sloane, a native of Campbell, will be paired on Sunday with Banke, a junior golfer who will graduate high school in 2015, and Brent Booth, a senior at UC Davis from Los Altos.
Booth shot 67 and is one back of Sloane and Banke.
Three other rounds below 70 were fired on Saturday, including Patrick Soli, Hayden Shieh and Justin Goh.
In the senior division, Ralph Castanzo and Peter O'Malley are tied atop the leaderboard with opening-round 70s.
Ray Kong is two back at 72 while five players sit three strokes back at 73.
Amanjoty Sangha leads the women's division with a 79.
About the San Mateo County

36 hole NCGA points open to all amateur golfers 18 years of age and older, with an index of 6.0 or lower. There will be men's, senior men's, and women's divisions all played at scratch.
