Brenda Pictor wins the Georgia Senior Women's Amateur for the fifth straight year after a final-round 70 shot her into the lead for good

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - (Aug. 27, 2013) — Brenda Pictor of Marietta won the GSGA Senior Women's Championship at 2-over-par 146 (76-70), seven strokes over runner-up Betsy Butler of Atlanta. Butler finished at 9-over-par 153. The 16th annual GSGA Senior Women's Championship was played at King and Prince Golf Course, August 26-27. Pictor's 2-under-par 70 in the final round was the only score recorded in red numbers over the 36-hole competition. This year's Senior Women's runner-up, Butler, posted rounds of 77-76 en route to her 153 two-day total. Butler competed in the first flight, winning that division by four strokes. This victory marks the fifth-straight time Pictor has won this annual competition, and sixth in the last seven years. Pictor's first Senior Women's victory came in 2007 at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain. Two years later began her current streak of five. The 2008 and 2009 Championships were held at Arrowhead Pointe at Richard B. Russell State Park in Elberton. Houston Lake Country Club in Perry hosted in 2010, and Brookstone Golf and Country Club in Acworth hosted in 2011. Last year, Pictor won at Alpharetta Athletic Club-East in Milton. She has been the GSGA Senior Women's Player of the Year in each of the last six seasons, sharing the title in 2007 with Darlene Werhnyak and winning the next five outright. She is also a two-time GSGA Tommy Barnes Award winner, signifying the Association's overall Player of the Year. Mary Riley of Perry finished third overall at 11-over-par 155 (75-80), and Gwen Young of Cochran finished fourth at 13-over-par 157. Three players tied for fifth at 16-over-par 160, including Marilyn Nolan-Johnson of Marietta (84-76), Donna Eaton of Greensboro (77-83) and Charlotte Grant of Greensboro (77-83). Karen Stewart of Columbus finished eighth at 17-over-par 161 (80-81), and Phoebe Fulford of Meigs came in ninth at 18-over-par (84-78). Rounding out the top 10 overall were three players at 19-over-par 163: 2012 Senior Women's Championship runner-up Susan Rheney of Greensboro (82-81), 2008 Senior Women's champion Darlene Werhnak of Lawrenceville (82-81) and Liz Butler of Greensboro (80-83).
