REVIEWED: Callaway JAWS Full Toe wedges

The real difference between pros or nationally-ranked amateurs and the average golfer isn't their ability to hit 300 yard drives.

Sure, the long ball helps. but getting up and down is crucial to the bogey-free rounds that happen so often at golf's top level. Callaway spends millions on R&D not just for the long clubs, but to bring better short game products to the market as well. Let's start with the long shots. If you're like me you love a full gap wedge shot from 100-110 yards from light rough or a perfect lie in the fairway. It took me years to learn not to go 100 percent of a club's maximum yardage; my best shots seem to be when I dial it back to 90% and flight the ball down a bit.

The new JAWS wedges have a toe pad to move the CG higher, so you can flight the ball better. And a weight port pushes the CG away from the hosel so you get better contact and feel. The C grind is versatile, whether you're hitting a 3/4 or full shot where you want to use some bounce, or something off a tight like where you are digging with the leading edge a little more.

Around the greens, the raw face and groove-in-groove technologies, coupled with the full toe design (with a fully-grooved face) mean spin, spin, and more spin when you need it, like from deep rough, off a tight lie to a tucked pin, or from the sand.
