The apparel giant takes layering seriously and follows up an immensely popular debut with improvements for 2023.

No matter where you’re located in the U.S. you’re going to have some chilly days on the golf course. Even those early mornings in the desert southwest can be brisk. For those of us that are located in the midwest and northeast, playing golf in the cold is just part of the yearly routine. It’s important, however, to have the right clothing the make sure you’re prepared for the first tee, but can also adjust along the way.

In 2022, FootJoy debuted its ThermoSeries which is a collection that is designed to be layered together. We were blown away by the effectiveness and quality of that lineup, so when we heard that FJ would be following up with a 2023 collection we began making room in our closets.

Our first look at the new ThermoSeries products came at the 2023 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. FootJoy Product and Marketing Developer, Brett Thomas, gave us a peak at what’s dropping this summer, and we were impressed. Check out our full video with Thomas.

Here’s what will be included in the 2023 collection.

THERMOSERIES BASE LAYER
Four-way stretch fabric that is moisture-wicking and barely noticeable. One of the main keys to the ThermoSeries because it’s the first player you put on. While you can combine the base layer with other garments in the line, it even works simply paired with a golf shirt on top.

THERMOSERIES MID-LAYER
This half-zip slides over the base layer with ease. No fabric bunching, no long sleeves that you need to roll up. Just a great-feeling shirt that can easily transition into something you wear off of the golf course.

THERMOSERIES VEST
This can easily be the last golf vest you ever own. It’s insulted but doesn’t make you sweat due to its breathability. The stretch fabric gives you a full range of motion in your backswing as well as your followthrough. Another ThermoSeries piece that works great with the rest, but can easily go rogue and pair with a golf shirt.

THERMOSERIES HYBRID JACKET
Our favorite piece in the collection. The Hybrid Jacket is incredibly versatile and stylish, we wear ours year-round. The woven shell has the same four-way stretch, so it moves with you. It has these awesome side pockets that are comfortable and warm and we constantly use the chest pocket for tees, markers, and much more.

THERMOSERIES PANTS
With your top half in good shape, don’t skip the bottoms. The ThermoSeries pants are made from a brushed woven performance fabric that is light and breathable. If you get caught in the rain, no worries, they are also water repellant. Our favorite feature, however, is the stretch waistband that also keeps our shirts tucked in.

“All of the credit goes to our design team,” said Thomas. “They work really hard, constantly fitting these pieces so they work together and every little detail that matters to the golfer matters to us. We’re golfers at heart, so we would never design something that we wouldn’t wear ourselves.”

The FootJoy ThermoSeries is available in both men’s and ladies' collections. Keep an eye out for the 2023 ThermoSeries lineup which will hit stores as well as FootJoy.com in July.
