Women's shoes that harken back to FootJoy designs of the past look great, perform amazingly, and keep you comfortable and dry
Ladies who are in the market for a new pair of golf shoes often run into obstacles from style and fit standpoints. Many golf shoe companies produce ladies' models in either very muted colors or go in the direction of super-feminine without leaving much in between. Thankfully, FootJoy takes on the golf shoe game unlike any other brand and its Premier Series is a prime example. Women’s Premier models have been around for some time, but the new Issette model is a showstopper that will have all of the ladies at your club putting in their rush orders.
What makes the Issette such a unique design is the way it seamlessly brings together a bit of old school and a lot of new, fresh design and technology. Upon first glance, the Issette is a very unassuming and familiar design, but the materials and detailing are too much to ignore.
“Players at all levels have adopted the Field and Packard styles at unprecedented rates, and the new Wilcox (men's) and Issette patterns are sure to energize the classic category even more,” said Patrick Trubiano, Director of Product Management for FJ Footwear.
Design-wise, the Premiere Series Issette is made from full-grain leather as are all of the top-end offerings from FootJoy. Despite the leather, they are breathable, lightweight, and allow for an easy cleanup post-round. The design aspect that is apparent, but so delightful is the leather flap that goes over the laces. The fringe material is known as a “Kiltie” design and was originally produced to keep dirt from getting into your laces. So while it is a classic design, you can easily picture FootJoy tour staffer Jessica Korda going wire-to-wire in 2023 while sporting them.
The Issette is also an incredibly stable shoe so you’ll never have to worry about losing your footing while in transition. They come with Pulsar LP cleats by Softspikes, which is a low-profile spike that keeps you grounded.
Like to hoof it for 9 or 18? No problem. An OrthoLite EcoPlush FitBed is molded into the Premiere Series Issette so you’ll never feel a bit of discomfort while trekking through your round. The VersaTrax+ outsole is also at the top of today’s golf shoe technology to keep you from sliding in the fairways or in the tall stuff.

The release date for the Premier Series Issette is March 17, 2023, so be sure to check with your favorite golf retailer on stock. They will cost $200 and will be available in white/white, white/black, and white/pink. It’s a fitting design to launch in 2023 seeing that FootJoy is celebrating its centennial this year. For a company that’s dominated a category for the majority of its 100 years, FootJoy doesn’t seem to have any interest in slowing down in either the design or innovation categories. “We’re pushing forward with trend and style, and it’s always anchored to performance and always making sure the best players on tour are wearing it,” said Trubiano. We want to make sure you look good, because if you look good, you play good, then you feel good.” In 1945, FootJoy became the #1 golf shoe on the PGA Tour because of the company’s singular commitment to the game. The title has yet to be relinquished and the company once known as Field and Flint Company in 1923 continues to lead the field.
