Leave it to MacNeill Engineering (the parent company of the popular CHAMP brand of spikes, grips, and accessories) to come up with a new spike that is actually backwards compatible with at least one popular connector system.

IT'S SLIM, LIGHT, AND BACKWARDS- COMPATIBLE

CHAMP's new "SLIM-Lok" connectors are available in all of their new spikes, providing them with a lower profile, and making them lighter at the same time. This way, shoe manufacturers can continue the trend to bring golfers closer to the ground, while still offering the traction benefits of real spikes. (You didn't think that the all-in-one "spikeless" shoes provided as much traction as removable spike models did you?)

In the case of the SLIM-Lok connector, those spikes will fit in shoes made for TRI-Lok spikes. (Many FootJoy models, for example.)

HELIX: THE LATEST FROM CHAMP

CHAMP's Helix Spike

This design doesn't just look cool, it provides excellent traction, stability, and durability. Helix's green-friendly design is a courtesy to the the golfers playing with and behind you. Like other new Champ models, Helix has reinforced wrench holes formed in rigid material so that you won't struggle or strip them when replacing. And the signature ā€œCā€ is more than just a branding icon, it doubles as a wear indicator, turning solid when spikes need to be replaced. Brilliant!

HOW TO CHANGE THE SPIKES IN YOUR GOLF SHOES

If you're a member of a fancy country club, you can simply leave your shoes up for cleaning, ask the "shoe guy" to change your spikes and arrive next time to find your shoes in perfect shape. But if you're like most golfers, you don't have this luxury. Check out the video below, in which Harris MacNeill and his son Mark of MacNeill Engineering/CHAMP show you how to do the job right, starting with a good cleaning.
