A blade that can exceed the performance of a mallet highlights major putter announcements from Odyssey and Toulon for 2022
Having a backyard putting green is coming in handy, as a big box arrived from Odyssey and Toulon just in time for the official launch.
We rolled the Odyssey 11, Toulon Memphis, and Odyssey Tri Hot 5k. Below you can find short videos on both lines, with close-up views of these beautiful machines. But here's the bottom line. From the first putt to the last, each model offers an amazing feel and comfortable setup. And they all feature the Stroke Lab shaft and weight system, which removes 40 grams of weight and redistributes it to the head and butt end of the putter for more feel and forgiveness. It's distinctive to look at, and certainly a concept that is here to stay.
ODYSSEY TRI HOT 5K AND ELEVEN
If you're a blade person, you're going to love Odyssey's most forgiving blade design, the Odyssey Tri Hot 5k. What makes this model so appealing is the way that Odyssey engineered a "weight forward" design that is similar to -- or even outperforms -- a mallet in terms of forgiveness.
How did they do it?
Odyssey started by moving the CG (center of gravity) positioning forward, then leveraged new materials like stainless steel, tungsten, and 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum. Using massive amounts of tungsten, they’ve developed an extremely high inertia level for a blade, and they have the test numbers to prove it.
Your lab is the putting green, and if Odyssey's engineers have created a putter that twists less when you "toe it" a little, and your 5-footer you didn't think was hit well goes in, you'll be just a little happier. On the long putts, if you can control your speed better, your 4 footers for par might be kick-ins.
Odyssey Eleven combines the legendary White Hot insert -- the No. 1 insert on Tour -- with the company's major-winning Stroke Lab shaft to improve the consistency in your stroke. This unique head shape delivers the outstanding MOI properties that you would expect from a mallet. At address, we immediately noticed the forward face shape that really sets up nicely with a center shafted putter like this. It's subtle, not like some of the extreme designs you might see in your friends' bags. Odyssey Eleven comes in three proven options for better aim: a Tour Lined version, Triple Track Alignment, or a classic, black, unlined model.
ODYSSEY TOULON DESIGN FOR 2022
The new Odyssey Toulon Design Putters are fundamentally driven to combine rare beauty, obsessive attention to detail, exacting precision, and Tour-proven performance.
From compelling new head shapes, featuring our new deep diamond groove face milling, to a new stunning Tour Satin Black finish, new split weight forward weighting configuration, and their latest generation Stroke Lab shaft, this collection delivers the highest qualities that Odyssey could imagine for milled putters. We tried the Memphis, which is about 10 percent larger than its predecessor. What a thing of beauty -- just check out the video below and watch as we spin this putter around, enticing you to maybe put some of your hard-earned money aside to make one your own.
