Ping’s Glide innovative Glide wedges have been enhanced with new sole grinds, grooves, and more. Enter the Glide 2.0.
The original Glide models, released in 2015, featured a sole design and shape that helped golfers move the club more easily through turf or sand. (It was a great naming choice, so we’re glad they stayed with it.)
The Glide 2.0 wedges have sharper grooves which are spaced closer together allowing golfers to get up to 400 rpm of spin for precise distance and trajectory control from the fairway or around the green.
As the pioneer of custom fitting, Ping brings the concept to wedges with four different sole grinds that can be matched to your attack angle, divot depth, and the type of turf from which you most typically play.
The grind that will fit most players is the SS – it features a mid-bounce sole, with heel and trail edge relief. For steeper angles of attack, the WS grind provides a combination of full sole and reduced camber.
Advanced in its tour-inspired design is the half-moon shaped trail edge found in the TS grind. For those who love the flop shot, you can lay the blade of the TS open without fear of the leading edge sitting too high. And like the SS model, heel relief is built in.
Finally, the bunker-lover’s favorite is the ES grind. It’s inspired by the Ping Eye-2 wedge, an old favorite. You get the concave sole married to a refined leading edge and confidence inspiring profile that might just make you start yelling to your ball, as it misses the green, “find the bunker.”
GRIP AND SHAFT
The Ping “Dyla-wedge” grip is ¾” longer than a standard grip, making it easier to choke down for those finesse shots. The grip is also tapered less, which is the preferred shape of many better players on their short clubs.
Glide 2.0 wedges come standard with the proprietary Ping AWT steel shaft, in 118 grams. Graphite is also available, as are a number of other choices including KBS Tour, True Temper Dynamic Gold, and Project X.
