Among the sites to see at Royal Liverpool this past weekend at the 2014 British Open Championship was the
unveiling of the new Callaway prototype utility iron.
The course and conditions motivated Callaway Tour staffers Phil Mickelson, Thomas Bjorn, Ryo Ishikawa, Krostoffer Broberg and Branden Grace to put the club in their bags.
According to Golfweek's David Dusek, the club is carved from 455 Carpenter steel and it creates a lot of ball speed.
Dusek also noted that the clubs at Hoylake were labled as Apex UT.
Similarly to the Callaway X Prototype Irons, the Apex UTs have a screw in the sole of the club.
