With
Angel Cabrera's
victory and impressive driving statistics,
the new G30 driver from Ping
has been the talk of the town since its
introduction.
Not to be lost in the shuffle, though, is the
G30 line's irons, to be released the first week
of August in retail stores.
The G30 irons are carved from the same 17-4
stainless steel Ping iron fans have come to
know and love but those same
brand loyalists will surely see something
different when they try out the irons.
Ping is not shying away from the stronger lofts
seen throughout the set. Classified as a game-
improvement iron, the
G30 irons offer extreme forgiveness and a high
trajectory.
The set comes in progressive lengths and lofts
and features a relatively thin face that aides in
launch conditions.
They also feature Ping's Custom Tuning Port,
which sits low on the clubface to help support
the thing face and
combines with a low and back center of
gravity that adds to the clubs' forgiveness and
high launch tendencies.
The impetus for the design and engineering for
the G30 irons came from their predecessors,
the Ping i25 and Karsten
irons, both of which were released earlier this
year.
The goal was to get longer and more
consistent, leading to heads in the G30 that
are slightly longer than those in the
G25 and the progressive offset seen
throughout the set.
The G30 irons, along with the driver, fairway
woods and hybrids that make up the line, will
be available in August.
