Callaway has been on a tear, and with the announcement of the Rogue ST lineup for 2022, it's clear they have no plans to slow down anytime soon.

The family is cohesive in appearance, to the point where it would be easy to lay out a complete set against the wall and see a nice flow, particularly from driver to hybrid. The sleek matte black finish and flow of the heads fit well with each other. But as you go from driver to hybrid, what's beneath the surface is what you're going to love on the golf course.

Because technologies like the "Jailbreak Speed Frame" -- which provides speed and stability to the all-important face of the club -- are fine-tuned to the size and purpose of the club they are designed for. And the fairway wood lineup is so broad and versatile that you can order anything from a new high-launch 3-wood (we'll take one please) all the way through an 11-wood. (Before you laugh, consider that some Tour pros are already carrying 7-woods.)

We'll summarize the Rogue ST lineup below while providing links to more detailed breakdowns from our equipment team.

The Rogue ST Driver Family
There are technologies you can see, and those that lie beneath. Callaway's new Tungsten Speed Cartridge -- a key component of each of the four Rogue ST driver models -- is one you'll notice every time you take the headcover off.

Its shiny copper finish low and deep on the back of the head covers a chunky piece of tungsten. Callaway's Senior VP of Research & Development Dr. Alan Hocknell shared some of his design team's thinking on the use of this heavy metal:

"To put as much weight as possible on the perimeter of the driver, we need a dense material," he said. "[The Rogue ST drivers] move a large amount of weight from where you have previously seen it."

Callaway is a pioneer in Artificial Intelligence, and the supercomputers were at it again in the design of the Rogue ST drivers. The latest Flash Face design lowers spin, while maximizing forgiveness. And behind the face, (only visible from the bottom) the latest iteration of the Jailbreak Speed Frame promotes even more speed and stability. Pick the model that fits you, and have at it!

Here are the four Rogue ST driver models:

* Rogue ST MAX: Callawayfs best combination of distance and forgiveness, fits the majority of players
* Rogue ST MAX D: Dedicated draw model for players who need the most shot shape correction
* Rogue ST MAX LS: Stronger trajectory, lower spin, and more neutral ball flight
* Rogue ST Triple Diamond LS: A compact, low-spin head for better players

One of the most common mishits on fairway woods is hitting the ball low on the face, and the design decision of the tungsten's placement addresses this miss.

"You can't really get any more down on the sole than [the tungsten plate] being in contact on the ground right on the bottom there," Dr. Alan Hocknell, Callaway's Senior Vice President of Research and Development, said on an introductory press call for the Rogue ST Fairway woods.

"This is extreme perimeter weighting for fairway woods if you want the center of gravity to be low and forward in the head, and that's what we want."

Tungsten plays a significant role in the Rogue ST hybrid, just like the fairway woods. But unlike the woods, the element sits on the club's perimeter inside the clubface instead of the sole.

Rogue ST Hybrid
"We want a similar effect to the fairway wood," said Callaway's SR VP of Research and Development Alan Hocknell. "We want to bring the center of gravity down lower and closer to the face. That's one of the things that this location of the tungsten weight helps us do, versus a design that doesn't have tungsten."

Callaway added a larger jailbreak batwing in the toe of the hybrid versus the heel, a difference immediately felt when picking the club up, to counterbalance the extra weight in the hosel. The Rogue ST hybrid's design finds a nice midway point between the 2020 Mavrik model and 2021 Epic Super Hybrid. The look at address is very appealing.
