Our equipment panel takes a look at the two latest drivers from Cobra - the Speedzone and Speedzone Xtreme

Cobra wants to take you to Infinity, and beyond.

Their latest driver, the Speedzone, features a CNC-milled Infinity face that wraps over the top of the crown. It's a unique look to be sure, and the company says that the design "increases the milled area by 95%" which maximizes the zone where maximum ball speed can be achieved.

The Speedzone is available in two models - Speedzone and Speedzone Xtreme. Both come in 460cc size, with the Speedzone shape more oriented towards control and workability (recommended for players in the 0-10 handicap range) and the Xtreme aimed at maximizing forgiveness.

As such, the Speedzone comes in lofts typically used by better players who don't need as much help with launch - 9 and 10.5 degrees. The Speedzone Xtreme adds a 12 degree loft to the mix. The Speedzone comes with adjustable weights positioned in the front and back to tweak launch; the Xtreme has a weight port in the back only.'

In addition to the Infinity face, both models feature a new titanium T-Bar Speed Chassis. By using this reinforced structure, Cobra's designers were able to reduce the amount titanium used, allowing them to position weight is strategically around the perimeter so mishits fly longer and straighter.

Pulling the whole thing together, a 360 carbon wrap crown covers 50% of the club body, adding stiffness to the chassis while saving an additional 25 grams of discretionary weight.

As with their previous models, Speedzone have a unique Speedback underneath; 69 grams of mass is positioned as low as possible to create the most efficient transfer of energy to the ball for high launch with low spin.

    ARCCOS CADDIE
Both Speedzone models come with an Arccos embedded grip sensor that pairs with the Arccos Caddie app on your mobile device. You'll get access to Arccos' rich library of user data, so you can see trends from the millions of shots that Arccos has collected data on since their inception about 10 years ago. It's a nice bonus you get when buying a Cobra driver.

    SHAFT OPTIONS

    UST HELIUM 4, 5 (BLACK)
A lightweight structure provides great feel and stability while helping to maximize distance and launch.

MCA TENSEI CK AV BLUE 65
All new Aluminum Vapor (AV) coated fiber is added to the butt to improve stability and stiffness and is designed with a lower torque than the previous CK Blue series.

PROJECT X HZRDUS SMOKE YELLOW 60
Features a counterbalanced design allowing for mass to be added to the head for maximum ball speed and higher MOI.

ALDILA ROGUE SILVER 60 (110 MSI)
Features a stiff tip section to provide mid to low launch with lower spin and excellent feel and consistency.

Whether it's the new face, weight distribution, or Arccos Caddie, you've got to give props to Cobra for packing a ton of new technology into the Speedzone family.
