We just ordered a case of 36 of these healthful, tasty drinks that contain 1/2 the sugar and twice the electrolytes of standard energy drinks

I love coconut water. The flavor just makes me feel like I'm somewhere tropical. Drinking it from a bottle is the next best thing to drinking it from a coconut, which I always love to do when traveling.

But I've never been quite sure if coconut water was any better for me than regular water.

So I was quite intrigued when I found out that one of AmateurGolf.com's newest "Tour" members, Mark Sider, was the co-founder of a company that makes a coconut water-based sports drink called "Greater Than." We're going to do some sampling at a few of our events like the upcoming La Costa Classic. But I couldn't wait for that, so I ordered a 36-pack. I got 12 of each flavor: Orange Mango, Tropical Medley, and Grape Vine.

They come packaged in an environmentally- friendly "TetraPak" in beautiful, bright colors. Each one carries its own inspirational message, like:

"Greatness is rising up after you have fallen down."

And get this, the 11.2 ounce paks are packed with 1/2 the sugar as a standard sports/energy drink, with twice the electrolytes. The main ingredients are coconut water, filtered water, and juice. The drinks are non-GMO verified, meaning no Genetically Modified Organisms are used in their manufacture. But none of this would mean much if they didn't pass the taste test!

I'm pleased to say that all three flavors are a hit with my wife and my 16-year-old son. The 36 drink variety pack? It's almost gone. I brought six of them out to Torrey Pines for a year-end big day of 36- holes on foot, and they kept me hydrated and happy. What's great is you catch the coconut water flavor, but it doesn't dominate. So those of you who don't like the taste of coconut water need not be concerned. You'll get mostly the flavor that's on the package, and I love them all. And 50 calories is something that any diet can handle.

The Washington Post did a story on energy drinks and called Greater Than "The Healthiest Sports Drinks I found on the market." Not bad.
