Beyond the southwestern section of the Village of Hempstead, the Hempstead Golf and Country Club, with its comfortable Club House within Village limits, and its broad acres, has become a Mecca of local golfers and the center of social activities.
Of the many pleasure bound motorists passing through Hempstead each week, there are few who realize that within 200 yards of their point of entrance to the Village, the Hempstead Country Club has built a wonderful 18 hole golf course in a picturesque and park-like surrounding as could be found in the County of Nassau, or even in the whole State of New York.
Organized in 1920, The Hempstead Country Club has unfolded an interesting history during its first half century. Born in an era steeped in early American history, the front center of our clubhouse was built in 1756, and research indicates that the Tories occupied it for a short time during the Revolution.
