RIO PINAR - THE COURSE OF CHAMPIONS... Between 1966 and 1982, Rio Pinar hosted both the men's and ladies' Citrus Open invitational. Here, among towering Florida pines, Arnold Palmer, Julius Boros, Lee Trevino, Hale Irwin, Patty Sheehan and Beth Daniel all won this major tournament. Golf Designer Lloyd Clifton, who finished the original course construction in 1958, returned in 1995 to modernize the course, while also restoring it to its late-sixties championship configuration. Such features as carefully sculpted bunkers and larger, reconstructed greens make Rio Pinar a spectacular course - for champions and you!
