Burningtree Country Club

North of Birmingham, halfway between there and Nashville, lies Burningtree Country Club, perhaps as much of a secret as it's designer George Cobb. Cobb is likely best known for his design (with Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts) of the par 3 course at Augusta National in 1959 -- but he also designed more than a hundred other courses. Burningtree, host of the annual Spirit of America Golf Classic and numerous state golf association events, stretches out to 7005 yards from the tips.
