If you're over the "two wardrobe" situation golfers find themselves in, Linksoul is the perfect apparel choice
The mantra of Linksoul is simple. They make apparel that looks great on and off the golf course, using natural fabrics and a gorgeous color palette.
Company founder John Ashworth is a veteran of the apparel business. And while the company name has changed, his idea of making clothing that looks good every day hasn't changed since he founded the Ashworth company in the 1980s.
Now, this doesn't mean you won't fit in on the course when wearing Linksoul. They are one of the few companies whose shirts are primarily made of cotton. From solid color basics to fancy stripes, Linksoul shirts look and feel great. I've become a big fan of the long sleeve sweaters, particularly the half zip in charcoal grey. It's made of 100% luxury cotton with a bit of stretchy banding at the cuffs and bottom. It looks good over a tee or golf shirt.
Once you get on board with the brand, you'll get what the "lifestyle" part is all about. There are the various slogans -- like "Make Par, Not War" -- that can be found in different styles on hats or tee shirts. There are videos, and "Linksouldiers" that range from Tour players like Ryan Moore to surfers, photographers, and even Golf Channel traveling correspondent Matt Ginella.
The company puts out a bi-monthly catalog that features apparel, accessories, persimmon woods (Ashworth is nostalgic about classic clubs), and original artwork drawn by resident artist Geoff Cunningham, who just happens to be Ashworth's nephew.
There's also part of the company that really separates Linksoul from other brands. That's the fact that Ashworth is the leader of a partnership that manages a formerly downtrodden course called Goat Hill Park. "The Goat," as locals call it, is just a few miles from Linksoul's Oceanside, California office. And if you come out and play the quirky par-65 on a "mandatory golf Friday" you might just run into Ashworth, or even a PGA Tour player like Dean Wilson, or the founder of golf's best tournament website!
Make sure you ask about the skins game. Play in it once, have a beer after, and you're likely to return week after week.
NOTE:
We will soon be providing our AmateurGolf.com members with a promotional code to order Linksoul - stay tuned for more info.
