Tennessee Four-Ball: Maxwell/Korth prevail
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (June 9, 2013) -- The 43rd Annual Tennessee Four-Ball Championship has concluded and the winners are Lee Maxwell and Wes Korth of Cookeville, TN.

The former college teammates at Tennessee Tech University defeated current Tennessee Tech University Men’s Golf Team members Bryce Kendrick and Lee Whitehead. Maxwell and Korth defeated Jay Vandeventer and Brandon Rodgers of the University of Tennessee Men’s Golf team 2&1 in the morning to set up their afternoon match. Kendrick and Whitehead defeated Taylor Davis (Lee University) and Dylan Healey (University of New Mexico) in their morning match 1 up.

The championship match began at 12:30 p.m. among sunny skies and high temperatures. Kendrick and Whitehead built a lead of 3 up through 9 holes. Storms would roll in and play was suspended at 2:45 p.m. for one hour. Upon resumption the duo of Maxwell and Korth seemed rejuvenated and charged back to bring the match back to all square through 12 holes. With the match all square heading into the final hole, all four players had a chance at birdie at the 541 yard par-5 eighteenth. Maxwell would be the only one to capitalize on the chance sealing a thrilling come from behind victory and claiming the 43rd Annual Tennessee Four-Ball Championship.

ABOUT THE Tennessee Four-Ball

Applications are open to teams of amateurs who possess a combined active USGA/GHIN Handicap Index of 16.0 or less from a TGA member club or course. Format consists of 18 holes of stroke play followed by a round of 32 match play.
