Kato wins Southern Nevada Amateur
HENDERSON, Nev. (June 2, 2013) — Xavier University golfer and Las Vegas native Yuki Kato birdied the first hole of a sudden death playoff to claim the Southern Nevada Amateur title on Sunday.

Kato's final-round 69 — which was low for the day — put him in a tie with Scott Cahill at three-under 141 for 36 holes before defeating Cahill on the first playoff hole with a birdie.

Kato, who just finished his junior year at Xavier, helped the Musketeers to a 4th-place finish at the Atlantic-10 Championship in April with a top-20 finish.
