St. Louis MET Match Play: Sneed prevails

ST. LOUIS, Miss. (May 5, 2013) -- Garrett Sneed (Country Club of St. Albans, McKendree University) played solid golf over the two days at Old Warson Country Club to capture the 18th Match Play Championship. Sneed defeated Thomas Wuennenberg 5&4 in the Final match to claim the win.

Sneed made it through the morning drizzle and cold temperatures to defeat Dr. Andy Frost 5&3 to reach the final. Wuenneberg, the 16 seed in the event, ousted Ted Moloney 4&2 in the morning to reach the final.

Sneed will be a senior at McKendree University this fall, he reached the Match Play Championship by virtue of solid play in 2012 making the cut at the Metropolitan Amateur and Open Championships to earn points. He says he plans on playing a full schedule in 2013 and looking forward to competing.

ABOUT THE Old Warson Cup

The Old Warson Cup is the association's annual match play championship, featuring the Top 16 amateurs from the previous year Player of the Year Points Standings. Invitational event. Entries are open to amateur golfers who are affiliated with or are a member of a club which is a Member Club of the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association.
