Big East: South Florida takes team title
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – USF tallied 12 birdies on the back nine to win the 2013 BIG EAST Men’s Golf Championship at Reunion Resort in Orlando, Fla. The Bulls finished six under par with a score of 858 (290-287-281). USF won the BIG EAST men’s golf championship for the first time in program history.

Chase Koepka led USF, finishing in second place with a score of 209 (70-70-69). Richard James had six birdies in the final round to record a score of 68. Koepka and Devin Hernandez finished three under par (69) and James finished four under par in the final round.

St. John’s also came on strong on the back nine of the final round, recording 11 birdies to come in second place (862, 298-283-281) The Red Storm had three scoring players finish in the top-10, including Ryan Gay (4th, 212), Ryan McCormick (6, 215) and Pat Wilson (T-7th, 217). Four of the five St. John’s players finished under par in the final round. Defending champion Notre Dame finished third with a score of 864 (288-296-280) to finish even. Cory Sciupider finished third with a 211 (70-71-71) to finish the championship five under par. Niall Platt finished fifth with a score of 214 (71-74-69) to come in two under par.

Cincinnati’s David Tepe held the individual lead for the duration of the championship and took home the individual title with a score of 208 (70-70-69) to come in eight under par. The senior’s final score ranks tied for fourth all-time for the best score at the BIG EAST championship. Tepe takes home the first BIG EAST individual title in Cincinnati program history.
