Mississippi Mid-Am: Ben Snow takes lead
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (March 23, 2013) -- Rain threatened the second round of the Mid Amateur Championhship at Hattiesburg CC all day. Players and tournament officials were hopeful that the rain would hold off. The tournament committee split tees with an 8:00 am start time in hopes to get the round in, before the storms rolled in. Some showers came in around 11:00 am and stayed around for about 45 minutes. Then the skies lightened up and the round was finished with no rain delays.
The weather was not an issue for Ben Snow of Hattiesburg. Snow's 65 gave him a 36 hole total 7 under par 137 and a three stroke lead over David Sellers of Madison (69-71-140) and Brandon Laird of Biloxi ( 69-71-140). Rounding out the top 5 are Justin Elliott of Hattiesburg and Lane Pippin of Ocean Springs five strokes off the lead at 2 under par 142. First round leader, Joel Myrick shot 75 on Saturday for a three way tie in 6th place with Robert Willis and Steve Wilson. The final round will begin at 8:00 am on Sunday at Hattiesburg CC.
