FAR HILLS, N.J. (March 7, 2006) -- Applications are now available online at www.usga.org for the 2006 U.S. Open, U.S. Women's Open and U.S. Senior Open. Entrants are encouraged to register online by clicking the "championships" menu bar and then clicking on "Apply to Play." Entrants may also download an entry form and mail it to the United States Golf Association, which conducts all three championships.

The deadline to submit an entry for the three championships is April 26 for the Open, May 3 for the Women's Open, and May 31 for the Senior Open. The Open will be played from June 15-18 at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y.; the Women's Open will be played June 29-July 2 at Newport Country Club in Newport, R.I.; and the Senior Open will be played from July 6-9 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.

Entry forms for U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship and the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship will be available online in mid-March. The remaining eight amateur USGA national championships will be available online during April.

In 2006 for the first time, applications for the Junior Amateur and Girls' Junior can be submitted online by a parent or guardian. Prior to this season, entries for those two championships could only be received by mail due to considerations regarding the entrants being under age. A parent or guardian may also complete an application online for a junior golfer choosing to enter another USGA championship, such as the U.S. Open or the U.S. Women's Amateur.

For all USGA championships, there is a handicap requirement and a qualifying process. As part of completing the online entry, the applicant will be asked to choose a qualifying site and a back-up site, if applicable, should his or her first site be full. Qualifying sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In another change this year, paper entry forms will not be mailed to the previous year's championship entrants, since more than 70 percent of all entries are now filed online. To receive a paper entry form, call the USGA Order Department administration at (908) 234-2300.
