Cal adds to lead at Southern Highlands Masters
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 10, 2013) -- Cal shot 8-under 280 to build an 11-shot lead at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters on Saturday in Las Vegas.
The Bears, Golfweek's top-ranked men's team, are at 11-under 565 through two rounds. Stanford is second at even-par 576 while Alabama (577), New Mexico (581) and UCLA (582) round out the top 5.
Stanford's Patrick Rodgers still holds the individual lead at 5 under after a 1-over 73 on Saturday. Alabama's Cory Whitsett and New Mexico's James Erkenbeck are tied for second at 3 under.
California has all five of its players at T-12 or better, including Joel Stalter, who is 2 under. Michael Kim, No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, and Michael Weaver are both 1 under for the Bears.
Texas is still last in the team standings, shooting 14-over 302 Saturday to drop to 32 over for the tournament.
