Horner wins Rancho Santa Margarita in playoff
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. (Feb. 25, 2013) -- Dan Horner fired rounds of 71-73 and prevailed over Rick Taniguchi in a playoff to claim the title at the Rancho Santa Margarita Amateur Championship at Tijeras Creek Golf Club.
Horner entered the final round tied atop the leaderboard with Dan Sullivan, who struggled with a Sunday 76. Taniguchi was able to sneak in the door left open by Sullivan, though, to shoot a 71 and force the playoff.
Robin Kang was third while Gordon Neale and Sullivan finished tied for fourth place.
KK Limbhasut, the 2012 champion, finished tied for 10th after rounds of 76-74.
