Kingsway Senior: Schlachter tops Zylstra

LAKE SUZY, Fla. (Jan. 14, 2013) -- Paul Schlachter knocked off Bill Zylstra to win the 2013 Kingsway Senior Invitational at Kingsway Country Club. The Bridgeville, Penn. resident fired a final-round 76 but finished the 54-hole event tied alongside Zylstra.

Schlachter fired rounds of 71 in the first two rounds and entered the final round one shot behind David Brown. Zylstra was third entering Round 3 after rounds of 71-72. He shot 75 in the final round.

Brown struggled with a final-round 82 and finished in a tie for fifth place.

Tom Hyland (74-74-72) finished third while Ron Carter (75-72-75) was fourth.

In the Super Senior division, Gary Strickfaden bested John Castevens while Bob Howe placed third.

Ray Darmstadt won the Legends Flight.

54-hole stroke play event created by Virginia's Dave King. Now part of the Golfweek Florida Swing. Formerly known as the Bobcat Trail Senior Amateur.

Entries are open by invitation only to amateur golfers who have a verifiable handicap of eight (8) or less. Seniors: age 55 & above; Super Seniors: age 65 & above; Legends: age 70 & above.
