Carolinas Young Am: Moore, Brady take titles
Pinehurst, NC (Jan. 4, 2013) -- Megan Moore of Bahama, NC became the first repeat winner of the Carolinas Young Amateur Championship. Moore, a junior at UNC-Pembroke, finished with a two day total of even par 144 on the Gene Hamm designed Magnolia course at Pinewild CC in Pinehurst, NC to win the women’s division. Katherine Perry of Cary, NC, the 2012 Carolinas Young Amateur champion, finished in second place with a two day total of 147. Nicole Keyser of Cary, NC finished in third place at 152.
Eric Brady of Cary, NC defeated Sam Jackson, III of Pelion, SC on the second playoff hole to win the men’s division. Brady, a sophomore at East Carolina, shot a second round 68 for a two day total of two under par 142. Jackson, the first round leader followed up his first round 68 with a two over par 74. In the playoff, both players bogeyed the tough par 4 tenth hole. Brady then captured his first CGA title with a par on the eleventh hole. Logan Harrell of Huntersville, NC, the 2011 Carolinas Amateur Champion and Spencer Lawson of Davidson, NC tied for third place at even par 144.
This annual championship is open to men and women from the Carolinas who are 18-24 years of age who have graduated from high school and is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.

Entry is open to any male or female
amateur
golfer between the ages of 18 and 25
who
have finished high school who is a legal
resident of
North or South Carolina, is a member in
good
standing of a club which is a member of
the
Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a
current
USGA handicap index at a CGA member
club.
The championship format is 36 holes of
stroke
play.
