Palma de Mallorca, Spain (December 13, 2012) – Leading Spanish hospitality brand IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts continues to enrich its golf offerings in Mexico and the Caribbean with the introduction of the brand’s first-ever IBEROSTAR Golf Team Championship Mexico tournament at the award-winning IBEROSTAR Cancun in Mexico, February 24 – 28, 2013.

The tournament battlegrounds are the IBEROSTAR Cancun Golf Club and IBEROSTAR Playa Paraíso Golf Club in Riviera Maya, par-72 championship courses designed by legendary golfers Isao Aoki and P.B. Dye respectively. At Playa Paraíso, P.B. Dye’s signature undulating greens may spell trouble in paradise for players, while the flatter Cancun course with its swirling winds creates shot making challenges on every hole.

Participants will have the option to field their teams in two ways - either as a member of a PRO-AM team comprised of a PGA club professional and three amateur golfers, or as an AM- AM team made up of two amateur players, who will be paired with a different twosome each day. The teams will compete in two separate PRO-AM and AM-AM divisions over the course of six simultaneous tournaments on a daily and overall basis. Both professional and amateur golfers will also have the option to compete in separate individual competitions and hole contests which will be staged concurrently within the tournament. This unique format will offer players of all skill levels the opportunity to experience the thrill of competitive golf and have something to play for each day.

In the PRO-AM division, tournament players will vie for a $5,000 USD Pro Purse, while the AM-AM competitors will vie for daily team and on-course prizes valued at more than $10,000 USD, including return stays to IBEROSTAR resorts, airline tickets, and premier golf equipment.

Tournament entry packages include 5-day/4- night deluxe ocean view accommodations at the all- inclusive IBEROSTAR Cancun, featuring world-class amenities such as gourmet dining and premium alcoholic beverages. The package additionally includes three rounds of tournament golf for players. Packages for amateur players are priced at $1,999 USD for single occupancy and $1,425 USD for double occupancy. Guests of tournament players may purchase a package for $999 USD (double occupancy).
