Yin tops Cathrea for Calif. Women's Amateur title
CARMEL, Calif. (Nov. 10, 2012) -- Angel Yin defeated Casie Cathrea 2-and-1 in Saturday's 36-hole championship match to win the 2012 California Women's Amateur Championship at Quail Lodge.
Yin and Cathrea earned the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds, respectively, in stroke-play qualifying and played like the event's top two players throughout.
Yin knocked off Calista Ringsby in Friday's afternoon semifinal match, 1-up, to move on while Cathrea dispatched of Renata Young, 2-up.
Young had moved to the semifinals with an upset win over Lynne Cowan in 19 holes.

The California Women’s Amateur Championship was
founded in 1967 and played at Pebble Beach Golf
Links until 1987 when the Championship was invited
to Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, where it was
played through 2019.
36-hole stroke play qualifying
round, 18 holes each day, to determine 32
players
for match play. Prizes will be awarded
to the Champion, Runner-up, Semifinalists,
Quarterfinalists
and the 36-hole Low Gross Medalist
from qualifying rounds.
