Duffy wins Nebraska Mid-Amateur
OMAHA, Neb. (Sept. 9, 2012) -- Patrick Duffy of Omaha won his first Mid-Amateur Championship Sunday at Beatrice Country Club topping two-time defending champion, Travis Minzel of Lincoln, by two shots. Duffy's final round 71 pushed him to 5-under par for the championship, Minzel posted rounds of 71-70.
Matthew Geschke of Lincoln (pictured lower left) won the Net Division title by two shots over Bob Tatten of Omaha. Other flight winners included first flight, gross division - Patrick Tryon of Lincoln (151) and second flight, gross division - Michael Varley of Wayne (160).
The Mid-Amateur is the final NGA championship of 2012. Duffy's win is his fourth state championship having previously claimed a pair of Four-Ball titles and a state match play win.
