Texas takes Carpet Capital Collegiate lead
ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 8, 2012) -- Richard Werenski fired a 3-under-par 69 Saturday, and Bo Andrews added a 1-under 71 as 4th-ranked Georgia Tech inched up the Carpet Capital Collegiate leaderboard into a tie for 13th after 36 holes.
Texas, however, blistered the 7,012-yard, par 72 Farm Golf Club layout with a 22-under-par score of 266 Saturday to take over the lead at the 36-hole mark. The Longhorns have a two-round total of 559 (-17), three stroke ahead of first-round leader Georgia, which shot 4-under 284 Saturday for a 14-under total of 562.
Clemson (-7) also jumped up the leader board into third place after posting a 7-under 281 and is in a tie for third place with LSU and Alabama at 3-under-par 574. Tech is in a tie with South Carolina at 592 (16-over-par). Seven teams in the 15-team field are ranked in the pre-season top 25 in Golf World magazine.
Texas' Brandon Stone shot a 7-under-par 65 Saturday and took a 1-stroke lead over first-round leader T.J. Mitchell of Georgia, who shot a 68 Saturday. Stone is 12-under-par through 36 holes.

54-hole men's college tournament hosted by
Georgia Tech University at The Farm Golf Club.
The 7,012-yard, par-72 layout was designed by
Tom Fazio and is near Dalton, Ga., just over 90
miles north of the Georgia Tech campus. The
host Yellow Jackets have been the institutional
host of this event since its inception in 1989. The
field
typically maintains a predominantly ACC and
SEC flavor, with other nearby schools
participating, as well.
