McNulty, Silver lead at Sr. Porter Cup
LEWISTON, N.Y. (Sept. 5, 2012) -- Mike McNulty fired a first-round 67 and leads the field heading into Round 2 at the 2012 Senior Porter Cup at Niagara Falls Country Club.
McNulty leads a deep field and second-place Mac McGee by one shot.
Three shots back tied for third after shooting first-round 70s are Tom Hyland, Paul Schlachter, Randy King and Duke Delcher.
In the Super Senior Division, Fred Silver blew away the competition in Round 1 with a red-hot 63. He leads Ted Smith by nine shots and a trio fighting for third place by 11 strokes.
ABOUT THE Senior Porter Cup
The Senior Porter Cup is an invitational
amateur
event conducted at stroke play over 54 holes.
The
Tournament Committee reserves the right to
invite players of national and international
reputation to participate. Contestants are
selected
on the basis of their competitive record and
accomplishments in major amateur and senior
amateur tournaments. Players must be at least
55
years of age prior to beginning of tournament.
The Senior division was added to the annual
Porter Cup Invitational in 1992 and has been
played as as a separate tournament since
2008.
