This Fall, Iberostar Golf Resorts is
unveiling
all-inclusive golf packages that dovetail off
of
the company's theme of one-price
vacations.
And in conjunction with a new golf
marketing
campaign, they have launched the
Iberostar
Team Championship.
I've experienced the Spanish
company's
hospitality first hand, and can't wait to do
so
again in a tournament setting. I can
promise
you that it's going to be an over-the-top
affair, and at a price you can afford.
The tournament will be held from
February
24 to 28 at Iberostar Cancun Resort, a
unique
property where each and every room has
an
ocean view. A spa, 7 infinity pools, kids
club
with water park, 4 specialty restaurants,
swim-up bar, and more amenities than I
could
mention here are all part of Iberostar
Cancun
Resort, where you don't have to take out
your
wallet once you've arrived.
All-inclusive is a concept that was new
to
me. It actually took some getting used to.
At
the hotel's swim up bar, I made eye
contact
with the bartender after he handed me a
mouth watering Margarita as if to ask
"how much?" and he just smiled. (A
tiny wristband having identified me as a
hotel
guest.)
And while it's dinners, drinks, included
gratuities, and complimentary activities
where
you save the most money, it was on the
golf
course where I appreciated it most. During
a
round, it's inconvenient to reach into your
golf
bag and pay for beverages and snacks,
and,
after already shelling out over a $100 or
$200
on a greens fee, it's a place where I've
always
felt a bit gouged.
Complimentary cocktails are just a
small
part of the overall golf experience, which
starts and ends with a smile from the
friendly
staff. Here is something I hadn't seen in a
long
time. While we were waiting for our clubs
to be
loaded up after the round, I noticed that
my
clubs weren't being given the now-classic
"courtesy wipe" while still in the
bag. All of my irons were soaking and
being
hand brushed in the water. (All-inclusive
or
not, this guy received a well-earned
"propina" -- Spanish for gratuity.)
Iberostar owns and operates two
distinctly
different layouts that will be used for the
tournament, Iberostar Cancun Golf Club
and
Playa Paraiso Golf Club. The former, and
Isao
Aoki design, is adjacent to the host hotel,
making it a "roll out of bed"
experience for the tournament rounds
that are
played there. The latter, a P.B. Dye jungle
layout, is a short ride away. Use the links

THE TOURNAMENT: FEBRUARY 24-28,
2013
There are six competitions, which
truly
means there is something for everyone.
Teams
may choose to enter the tournament one
of
two ways. PRO-AM Teams will consist of a
Host PGA Professional and three amateurs
and
will compete against other Pro-Am teams.
For
those players who may not be members of
a
golf club or prefer to play with other
amateur
participants, AM-AM Teams will be made
up of
two amateur players and will be paired
with
different twosomes each day. The teams
will
compete in separate PRO-AM and AM-AM
Divisions on a daily and overall
basis. Additionally, both Host PGA
Professionals
and amateurs will have the option to
compete
in separate individual competitions which
will
be scored concurrently within the team
tournament. Like the wide array of dining
and
entertainment options afforded to guests
at
IBEROSTAR Resorts, the MEXICO Team
Championship will offer participants the
thrill of
friendly competition and the chance to win
fantastic prizes and awards every day.
Entries for this 54-hole event start at
just
$1425 per person, double occupancy. For
a
limited time, you can enter a sweepstakes
for
a chance to win a complimentary,
tournament
entry for two adults. Click on the following
