Vollersten takes High Plains Amateur
GARDEN CITY, Kan. (Aug. 26, 2012) -- Garden City's Grant Vollertsen followed up his opening round 67 with second 69 to claim a 3-shot victory at the 2012 High Plains Amateur at The Golf Club at Southwind in Garden City. Kit Grove of Lawrence and Keith Humerickhouse of Eagle, Colo. finished in a tie for second at 3-under par 139 total.
In the Masters Division, Garden City's Shawn Audrain, Junction City's Andrew King and Mike Holloway of Wichita tied for low honors after finishing the 36-hole championship at 1-under par 141 total. Randy Vautravers of Andover claimed the Senior Division title after finishing championship at 1-over par with rounds of 72 and 71.
Salina's Greg Goode was runnerup in the Senior Division. Winfield resident and Southwestern College golfer Seth Bryan was the low individual in the group of participants playing their second round at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course. Bryan finished at even par 72.
