Top-notch quartet moves to Neb. Sr. Match Play semis
VALLEY, Nebraska (Aug. 7, 2012) -- Qualifying medalist William Lawson of Omaha won a pair of matches Tuesday to advance to the semifinals of the 2nd Nebraska Senior Match Play Championship. Lawson topped Stan Tafoya of Lincoln 3 and 2 and Marcus Bell of Bellevue 2 and 1. He'll now face Larry Sock of Lincoln, a Nebraska Golf Hall of Famer with 6 major state titles. Sock beat the third seeded Charlie Doeden of Valley 3 and 2 and Les Johnson of Fremont 1 up.

On the other side of the bracket 2nd seeded Dave Shillinglaw of Papillion will face the 3 seed, Jay Muller of Omaha. Shillinglaw defeated Brian Hake of Omaha 3 and 2 and Doug Rose of Wayne 4 and 2. Muller beat John Knicely of Omaha 4 and 2 and Bob Meyer of Omaha 3 and 2.

ABOUT THE Nebraska Senior Match Play

Entries are open to amateur golfers ages 50 and over who are residents of Nebraska and a member of the Nebraska Golf Association (NGA). The field will be limited to 96 players (48 gross & 48 net). Format is 18-holes of stroke play to determine flights and seeds for match play.
