Cal State Open: Hoey leads amateurs
BEAUMONT, Calif. (July 17, 2012) -- Rico Hoey is alone in third place and four shots behind the leader Berry Henson after two rounds of play at the 2012 California State Open Championship.
Hoey followed his first-round 70 with a 6-under 66 in the second round and is 8-under through the first two rounds at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon's Champions Course.
Hoey emerged from a group of amateurs that were in the mix after Round 1.
Ki Taek Lee is tied for 21st at 3-under along with Paul Lim and Jay Lim.
Yi Keun Chang and Storm Lee are tied for 29th at 2-under.
ABOUT THE California State Open
The Championship will be a 72-hole stroke play
tournament contested over four days. Following the
conclusion of 36-holes, the field will be cut to the Top
60 players and ties. Championship is open to both
Professionals and Amateurs. Amateurs must carry an
index of 2.4 or below at the time of entry. Pre-
qualifying required for non-exempt players.
