Bermuda Dunes, CA (Dec 5, 2004) Carlton Oaks CC champion Gerry Simoni fired a three-under-par 69 to capture the 30th SCGA Tournament of Club Champions Championship Flight at Bermuda Dunes CC. He edged Keith Kinsel by a shot. For Simoni, it was a long time between SCGA titles. He won the third Tournament of Club Champions at Oakmont CC in 1977 while a member at Canyon Crest.

At Cimarron Golf Resort, an SCGA first occurred when five players tied for the championship of the President flight (2.5 to 7.9 handicaps). Miguel Acero of Pinoy Golfers of America, Greg Creamer of Recreation Players GC, Bryan Davis of Atom Club, Tim Henning of SEA GC and Ed Hontucan of Superior GC all finished with net 70s. Dennis Chance of Seniors Southbay GC won the Vice President Flight (8.0 and over handicaps) by three strokes with a net 64 at Desert Princess CC (Cielo/Lagos).

ABOUT THE SCGA Tournament of Club Champions

Men’s club champions are invited to play in this 18- hole event. The club champion must have a Handicap Index of 2.4 or below as of the date of registration. They must be an amateur member in good standing with the SCGA and a member on the club’s active SCGA roster at the time they won the championship. This Division will compete without handicaps. Men’s club champions with a Handicap Index of 2.5 and above will play in the net divisions.
