Nebraska Match Play: Stanek repeats
BELLEVUE, Neb. (June 29, 2012) -- Kevin Stanek of Bellevue became the 3rd repeat champion of the Nebraska Match Play Championship Friday defeating Omaha's Nick Vondrak 6 and 5 in the tournament's 36-hole final.
Stanek was behind briefly after a Vondrak birdie on the par 5 2nd hole, he then drove it just short of the green on the par 4 3rd squaring the match with a birdie of his own. The pair traded holes until the back nine where Stanek won 5 holes to Vondrak's 1 giving him a 4 up lead at the halfway point.
Stanek extended his lead to 6 up after Vondrak bogeyed the par 4 5th hole and double bogeyed the par 4 6th. The former Creighton golfer closed out the Omaha businessman with a halve on the par 4 13th. Complete scoring results are available by linking to the appropriate menu item.
