Nebraska Match Play: Stanek returns to finals
BELLEVUE, Nebraska (June 28, 2012) -- Defending champion, Kevin Stanek of Bellevue returns to the finals of the Nebraska Match Play Championship Friday where he'll meet Nick Vondrak of Omaha. Stanek eliminated Scott Tridle of Lincoln 6 and 5 in the quarterfinals and Rylee Reinertson of Gibbon 3 and 2 in an afternoon semifinal. Vondrak defeated 2004 champion Travis Minzel of Lincoln 1 up and Tad Leistico of Omaha 3 and 2.

The 36-hole final kicks off at 7:50 a.m. Stanek, who just finished his eligibility at Creighton University, plans to turn professional in July. He remained an amateur golfer through June so he could attempt to repeat on his home course. Vondrak makes his first appearance in the finals. His top finish in previous championships was a trip to the round of 16. Follow hole-by-hole scoring through the appropriate link above.

ABOUT THE Nebraska Match Play

Must be a resident or student of the state of Nebraska. Open to NGA members only. Limited to low 120 indexes. Format will be 36-holes of stroke play to determine a round of 32 match play.
