Nebraska Match Play: Stanek returns to finals
BELLEVUE, Nebraska (June 28, 2012) -- Defending champion, Kevin Stanek of Bellevue returns to the finals of the Nebraska Match Play Championship Friday where he'll meet Nick Vondrak of Omaha. Stanek eliminated Scott Tridle of Lincoln 6 and 5 in the quarterfinals and Rylee Reinertson of Gibbon 3 and 2 in an afternoon semifinal. Vondrak defeated 2004 champion Travis Minzel of Lincoln 1 up and Tad Leistico of Omaha 3 and 2.

The 36-hole final kicks off at 7:50 a.m. Stanek, who just finished his eligibility at Creighton University, plans to turn professional in July. He remained an amateur golfer through June so he could attempt to repeat on his home course. Vondrak makes his first appearance in the finals.
