ECU grad Stephenson leads N. Carolina Amateur
DURHAM, NC - Second round results of the 52nd North Carolina Amateur Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Treyburn Country Club in Durham, NC on Friday, June 15, 2012 (7047 yards, par 36-36—72, 74.8/143).
Adam Stephenson, a 22 year-old recent East Carolina University graduate from Greenville carded an even par 72 to take a two stroke lead over four players including reigning Carolinas Amateur Champion, Scott Harvey of Greensboro, heading into the weekend.
Defending champion, Harold Varner III of Gastonia posted an even par 72 and moved up to a tie for 16th place.
The field was cut to the low 60 scores and ties for the final two rounds. The cut line fell at eight-over par 152. 61 players qualified for the final two rounds at Treyburn Country Club.

ABOUT THE North Carolina Amateur
Open in all amateur male golfers age 13 or older.
Must
be a resident of North Carolina and a
member of a CGA member club with an index 9.9
and
below. An 18-hole sectional qualifier is required for
those that do not meet the exemption criteria.
Format
consists of 72 holes of stroke play with a cut to the
low
60 and ties after 36 holes.
