Texas State Amateur moved to Honors GC
DALLAS, Texas (June 14, 2012) -- The 2012 Texas Amateur presented by Insperity, originally scheduled to be held June 14-17 at Lakewood Country Club in Dallas, has been moved to The Honors Golf Club of Dallas in Carrollton.

The format of the championship has also been shortened to 54 holes of individual stroke play. All contestants will now play 18 holes on both Friday, June 15, and Saturday, June 16. After 36 holes the field will be cut to the low 54 scores and ties heading into Sunday’s final round.

Severe thunderstorms, some packing wind gusts of 60 mph and baseball-sized hail, roared through parts of Dallas/Fort Worth in the early evening hours on Wednesday, June 13. Especially hard hit was the historic East Dallas area where Lakewood Country Club is located. Despite the best efforts of Lakewood’s maintenance staff, the hail damage was too widespread to overcome in such a short amount of time, forcing the cancellation of Thursday’s opening round and the subsequent move to The Honors Golf Club of Dallas.
