Samuelson hangs on at Nebraska Senior
OMAHA, Neb. (June 14, 2012) -- Fremont's Steve Samuelson held on to win the 14th Nebraska Senior Amateur Championship Thursday by two strokes over 2008 champion, John Sajevic, also of Fremont. Samuelson finished with a 36-hole score of 147 (+5) with rounds of 73-74.
John Haney of Lincoln posted the day's low round shooting even par 71 to claim the 58-64 age division and finish T4 overall (151). He was the champion here in 2005.
Another past champion won the 65 and older division by one stroke. Gary Bowen of Omaha (2001) unseeded Roger Harms of Grand Island who was attempting to win his 7th straight 65+ division title. Harms finished one stroke back. A pair of golfers shared low net honors in the 50-57 age division - James Hobbs of Plainview and Jon Misfeldt of Columbus; Haney and Bowen were low net winners in their respective divisions.
