Texas (TGA) North Regional Mid-Amateur
PLANO, TX (August 14, 2005)--Steve Galko of Dallas continues to play out his hot hand in 2005 by winning his third TGA championship for the year. Galko was trailing by one heading into the final round, and was four back on the sixth tee. Sam Manning found trouble on the Par 3, 7th hole which put Galko into the lead. The North Regional Champion then “cans” his approach shot on the Par 4 ninth hole from 85 yards for a deuce and a commanding lead, which he would not surrender.
Jeff Fahrenbruch of Dallas posted the lowest round of the day at 2 under par 70 to capture the runner up trophy in his first TGA regional event. Sam Manning managed to salvage a third place finish for the championship. Mark Lindberg and Robby Skinner Tied for 4th place at +7 while Lelan Chiles and Brian McCoy Tied for 6th at +8 for the championship.
The Kings course proved again to be a worthy opponent for the unflappable competitors of the North Regional Mid Amateur. With a scoring average of slightly over 80 the King’s course at Gleneagles played one of the most difficult on the TGA calendar thus far in 2005. The par 4 14th hole played the most difficult all week with an average of 4.83 strokes. Closely followed by the par 3 11th which played an average of 3.81 strokes. The easiest hole for the week was the par 4 9th hole with an average of 4.04 strokes.
