CHARLOTTE, NC (May 25, 2012) -- Emee Herbert captured the 2012 WSGA Amateur Crown with patience and a putter that came alive on the 32nd, 33rd, and 35th hole of the 36-hole Championship match.
Rika Park and Herbert traded leads back and forth for over 3 hours to finish the morning round at even. In the afternoon heat, the match took a different persona as each player took turns controlling the match. In the end, Herbert had gained control and despite valiant efforts by Park, victory came 3 and 1.
Herbert is from Johns Creek, Ga and will be returning in the fall to the Tusculum Pioneer Golf team at Tusculum College as a sophomore.
Park is from Coral Gables FL and plays on the University of Miami golf team and is also a sophomore.
