Arkansas regains Governor's Cup
WEST POINT, MS (May 19, 2012) -- Mississippi hosted the 7th Annual Governor’s Cup Matches at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, MS. The MGA and ASGA (Arkansas State Golf Association) alternate hosting the annual matches. Each team has 20 members- 10 mid am players, 8 seniors, and 2 super seniors. Each match is worth one point.
Arkansas took an early lead following the Four-Ball and Foursome matches, going into the Singles Matches, 11 to 9. They managed to hang onto that lead through Singles matches to take 11.5 points to Team Mississippi’s 8.5. Team Mississippi looks forward to the 2013 Governor’s Cup matches in Arkansas. Thanks to Old Waverly for their continued hospitality to the teams.

Format: The Governor's Cup is a Ryder cup format.
Team Mississippi competes with Team Arkansas in
Four-Ball Match Play, Foursome (alternate shot)
Match Play and Singles Match Play. Each match is
worth 1 point.
Eligibility: The cup team is comprised of 20
competitors; 10 regular, 8 senior and 2 super
senior.
The team is selected from the player of the year
points from the previous year.
